AMG releases inaugural Reconciliation Action Plan
Aeria Management Group (AMG) has released the inaugural Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan for Bankstown Airport and Camden Airport, cementing its commitment to enhanced relationships and business opportunities for First Nations’ communities.
The Reflect RAP, endorsed by Reconciliation Australia, includes provisions to increase employment and procurement opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and businesses across the Southwest Sydney airport precincts, which together contribute $1.8 billion a year to the NSW economy and support 9000 jobs.
Ahead of NAIDOC Week, which runs from 6-13 July, AMG CEO Tom Smith said the Reflect RAP pays tribute to the enduring connection of First Nations’ communities with Bankstown Airport and Camden Airport and sets the foundation for substantial change for the future.
“As the manager of critical hubs servicing aviation, business and the community, we recognise our opportunity to deliver impactful outcomes towards reconciliation,” he said. “Our vision for reconciliation is to create a sense of belonging for all Australians. Our first RAP marks our initial but important step on that journey.”
Reconciliation Australia CEO Karen Mundine congratulated AMG on delivering the inaugural RAP for its airports, which support essential sectors such as emergency and aeromedical services, advanced manufacturing and distribution.
“This Reflect RAP enables Aeria Management Group to deepen its understanding of its sphere of influence and the unique contribution it can make to lead progress across the five dimensions of reconciliation: race relations; equality and equity; institutional integrity; unity; and historical acceptance,” she said.
AMG’s Reflect RAP includes commitments to:
- Build First Nations’ relationships and engagement through key events such as National Reconciliation Week
- Review and enhance anti-discrimination policies and procedures
- Support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island employment opportunities
- Support greater procurement from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander suppliers
- Establish a working group to guide and monitor commitments in the Reflect RAP
